Finding a
better route.
Drone Delivery is an exploration of shortest-path software for autonomous delivery. The project is still in progress; these notes describe the problem I’m working through.
The question
How do you choose a useful route when distance is only part of the story? A delivery route also has to account for destinations, constraints, changing conditions, and the cost of recalculating a plan.
The approach
- Represent locations and viable travel paths as a graph.
- Compare candidate routes using pathfinding algorithms and clear constraints.
- Make the tradeoffs understandable through a simple visual explanation.
Current status
This is an active experiment. I’ll publish an interactive demonstration here when the routing model is ready to share.
